Section 50 Awards

  • Chapter of the Year – Presented to the Chapter that has the best overall program of Leadership, Friendship and Service over the past year.
  • Inter-Chapter Relations Award – Presented to the Chapter that has done an outstanding job in promoting activities and interaction between their members and the other chapters of the Section.
  • Most Improved Chapter – Presented to the Chapter that has made the greatest strides in improvement in the last year.
  • Newsletter of the Year – Presented to the Chapter whose newsletter best demonstrates the functionality and fun that written communication can have
  • Best Service Project – Presented to the Chapter with the best specific large event or a long-term, regularly scheduled service project
  • Advisor of the Year – Presented to the outstanding Chapter Advisor who lends guidance and counsel to a Chapter.
  • Friend of the Year – Presented to the individual who made the most significant contribution toward the Cardinal Principle of Friendship.
  • Leader of the Year – Presented to the individual who made the most significant contribution toward the Cardinal Principle of Leadership.
  • Sectional Distinguished Service Key – Awarded to an individual who has given outstanding service at the Sectional level. Criteria include their commitment, reliability and availability, quality and quantity of service, enthusiasm, diversity of involvement, unselfish giving of time/talent/treasure, outstanding differences made in the section, past and present efforts, and accomplishments for a consistent period of at least one academic year.

  • H. Roe Bartle Award –  Awarded to chapters which achieve and maintain high standards of effectiveness in all aspects of their program and operations. More info…
  • Dean Arno Nowotny National Service Award – This plaque is presented every two years at the National Convention to the chapter judged to have the best overall service program. More info…
  • M.R. Disborough National Scouting Service Award – Awarded to recognize those chapters with exceptional service to scouting as an integral part of their overall service program. More info…
  • Earle M. Herbert National Friendship Award – Presented biennially at the National Convention to the chapter who has the best overall membership program. More info…
  • Josiah Frank National Historians Award – The chapter compiling and maintaining the best chapter history records and perpetuates the principles and traditions of Alpha Phi Omega will be presented a plaque featuring the first Fraternity pin biennially at each National Convention. More info…
  • Herbert G. Horton Service to Youth Award – Awarded to an active, alumni, advisory or honorary brother who has made a significant contribution to the youth of their community through scouting and/or another youth service organization and who has worked to strengthen the relationship between Alpha Phi Omega and the youth service organization at a local, regional, state and/or national level.   • Phyllis C. Tenney Excellence in Advising Award – This award recognizes service of an exemplary level over a substantial period of time to an individual chapter in the role of advisor. More info…
  • National Distinguished Service Key – The Fraternity’s highest distinction, this award recognizes brothers for outstanding service to the Fraternity on the national level, above and beyond the call of duty. More info…
  • National Alumni Distinguished Service Key – Recognizes those alumni who have continued to further the principles of Leadership, Friendship and Service beyond their college years in exceptional ways. More info…

Financial Awards and Scholarships
